$10.28 million in Shoalhaven road safety upgrades

Over $10 million worth of Shoalhaven road safety upgrades have been completed or are now underway.

Federal Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis said the delivery of $10.28 million in Roads to Recovery Funding shows how much the Government values the regions road safety.

“Just last week I was lobbying the Government for an additional $1.25 million to repair and upgrade the arterial road linking the Shoalhaven to the beachside communities of Culburra, Currarong and Callala,” she said.

“The Archgate Bridge on Culburra Road requires urgent upgrades and repairs to support the frequent usage by large trucks and buses.

“The community support has been fantastic, and the Federal Minister for Infrastructure knows how much we need the funding, I’m expecting an answer soon.”

The works are estimated to cost a total of $1.25 million, the Federal Government can contribute up to 50% of that through the Bridge Renewal Program in partnership with local council.

“We want better road safety, that’s why the Coalition Government is rolling out these upgrades and maintenance projects, and there is more to come.

“Our roads are some of the busiest in NSW, especially during school holidays and our continual investment in improving road surfaces, intersections and vehicle capacity is a non-negotiable,” said Mrs Sudmalis.

Funded through the Infrastructure Investment Programme, the aim of ‘Roads to Recovery’ is to support council works to maintain and improve road safety.
