Community groups have a chance to get their green thumbs into projects!

Federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis is encouraging local community, landcare, environment and natural resource management groups to roll up their sleeves and apply for a share of the Coalition Government’s $5 million Environment Small Grants.

“The Government is providing funding under its National Landcare Program, to help communities deliver green thumb activities to improve the quality of their local environment,” she said.

“We want to fund activities such as invasive pest and weed management, revegetation, erosion control, community engagement, and Indigenous land management planning.

“Our region is blessed to have such beautiful beaches, rivers and bushland. It is important to protect and preserve them for future generations,” Mrs Sudmalis said.

Applicants have until 19 March 2018 to apply for funding of between $5,000 and $50,000 for each project.

The small grants will be allocated through a one-off grant in the 2017-18 financial year.
