Federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis has today announced she will host a job seeker information and mentoring session Friday 20 October.
Mrs Sudmalis said next Friday’s event will be a great chance for job seekers to meet directly with some of our important employers in the region.
“Our information and mentoring night aims to connect potential employees to the knowledge of the ‘how to get a job’ to employers,” she said.
“We have strong representation from our local business community; including business owners, industry groups like the Shoalhaven Business Chamber, and employment agencies who will all assist in showcasing opportunities and options to maximise employment chances.”
Spokesperson for the Shoalhaven Business Chamber, Brendan Goddard who is attending the information night welcomed the announcement.
“A strategy such as this that assists with job creation and successful employment outcomes is welcomed,” he said.
“Gilmore’s economy is strong, our tourism industry is strong, and we do have some great opportunities out there.”
Mrs Sudmalis said the event ties back to the Federal Governments three stage PaTH (Prepare, Trial and Hire) program to address the Shoalhaven’s high level of youth un-employment, and our other incentives for employers.
“PaTH is helping get young people ready for the job market, look for opportunities, and at the same time giving actual dollars to invest in the young potential employee.
“I strongly encourage local employers to consider the PaTH program – it could help you find a great new employee to help you grow your business,” said Mrs Sudmalis.
The job seeker information and mentoring night will be held at the Nowra School of Arts, 59 Junction Street Nowra on Friday 20 October, 2017 from 5.30pm to 8.00pm.
