Healthy Body, Healthy Mind is the Men’s Health Week theme this year which was officially recognised today in Canberra at Parliament House.
Federal Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis said she was thrilled to see Men’s Health now on the National Agenda.
“Men’s Health is so very important, and to have the subject now at the forefront and being championed by such a strong panel of community leaders strengthens the cause,” she said.
Dignitaries at the function included His Excellency General the Honorable Sir Peter Cosgrove, Federal Minister for Health Greg Hunt, Foundation Chair in Primary Health Care at the University of Western Sydney, John Macdonald and the Federal Member for Gilmore Ann Sudmalis.
“For Men’s Health Week 2017 communities across the Nation come together to create enjoyable and engaging events, promotions and activities tailored to the needs of men and boys.
“These events focus on improving and maintaining the health of these individuals, their families, and having those meaningful conversations about the factors that keep us healthy in body and mind.”
This year’s theme “Healthy Body – Healthy Mind: Keeping the Balance” explores the different ways men and boys are managing to keep healthy, physically and emotionally, in a busy and sometimes challenging world.
Men’s Health Week is an opportunity to create events that respond to the issues impacting on the health of men, boys and their families in Gilmore.
“Men’s Health Week is an opportunity to make a positive difference and whilst it is great to be celebrating it Nationally, I would love to see how those are celebrating it locally,” said Mrs Sudmalis.
