Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull joins Build Our Bridge campaign

Member for Gilmore, Ann Sudmalis has welcomed the support of Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for the Build Our Bridge Campaign.

Mrs Sudmalis met with the Prime Minister in Canberra to discuss the current campaign and said his backing is a critical part of getting the project underway.

“Having the Prime Minister get on board demonstrates that the Federal Government is acutely aware of Gilmore’s road infrastructure needs, it also shows the urgency to have the Old Nowra Bridge replaced as soon a practically possible,” she said.

“The new bridge will replace the Old Nowra Bridge, and is a major step in improving the Princes Highway’s capacity and safety.”

In 2014, the State Government along with the Roads and Maritime Service released the preferred location for the new bridge, following extensive community consultations and workshops.

Mrs Sudmalis said “it’s now time to finalise these plans and build our bridge!”

“I will be hosting a Build Our Bridge Q&A on the 19th of April at the Wesley Centre Nowra, the format will be a round table discussion about the status of the construction plans with key community stakeholders.

“I encourage anybody wishing to attend the Q&A to RSVP by contacting my office. Please join the Prime Minister and I in helping to Build Our Bridge by signing the petition,” said Mrs Sudmalis.
