When Greenwell Point resident Tim O'Connor witnessed the unfolding of a potential tragedy when a parent ‘forgot’ their child in their car whilst out shopping, the potential consequences were too horrific to contemplate. As a trained paramedic, he has witnessed many distressing scenes, but as a parent himself he knows that the no parent wants to see their child suffer, not least of all for something that they potentially caused.
The R.E.M (Restraint Environment Monitor), grants peace of mind of alerting you when a child in a seat outside of a set boundary; that a warning will be given to the guardian, allowing them to override that ( e.g., if they are putting a trolley away) or allow them to realise their mistake and collect their child from the car. The product comes in two parts; the child seat safety buckle, which when engaged monitors the distance from your smart phone via app, to child’s position, thus allowing for alerts if you move out of a set radius. This could also be potentially done via a key fob that could be attached to the car keys as a simpler initial solution.
